I don't know why people underestimate Nagato so much! I mean the Guy
1. grew with with non deactivating Rinnengan(where as kakashi was being sucked by normal sharingan)
2. cripple that solos konohagakure! > sage naruto thousand times
3. it took combined effort of killerbee itachi and kcm naruto(with past knowledge!) to defeat him!(while unable to run!)
4. Place entire village under walls of genjutsu!
5. Sense every single sh*t in the village!
6. single handed solos Hanzo who pitted the sannins!

Nagato was an Uzumaki, and they have vast amount of chakra. You can't compare that.

Nagato was a beast and still is top tier it's just that as time passes and new characters get feats they think they are better than the old. Right now people probably think gai >>>>>> nagato or pain or even dai > pain neg diff -_-. Just ride the wank wave til a new character gets a feat.

1: the sannin weren't as strong then as they are now
2: It was Itachi's knowledge that defeated Edo Nagato, and he arguably could've done all that by himself. He simply didn't know HOW durable the black orb was, and still to this day we, the readers, don't know if Itachi's personal yasaka could've beaten it.
Not saying Itachi would beat nagato (without KA, he gets solo'd) btw

I'm not hating other charactors! truthfully I am a huge itachi fan! but I am not seeing him solos Nagato! pain or no pain!
