Madara couldn't of cast a genjutsu off the moon, that's the whole point of his and Obito's plan was to use the Juubi to increase his visual prowess to be able to cast one off the moon. I think Hashirama just missed a vital point when he stabbed Madara and he just got up and walked away letting them think he had died, and he couldn't have used Izanagi because for one he didn't have Senju DNA, an 2 he still had his EMS eyes which he gave to Nagato after, if he would've used Izanagi, one eye would be closed forvever and he wouldnt have been able to give it to Nagato.
