Before heading to the training grounds, Umari stops by the Kage Mansion and makes his way to the archives to brush up on the intricacies of Water Release and it's uses in anticipation of his training.
Shintasama is sleeping....This is a perfect opportunity to cram in some studying."

After studying in the archives Umari grabs a bite to eat. While stuffing his face with pork and rice he notices the time and rushes to the training location. Out of breath- his face covered in bits of rice from his meal, Umari sits cross legged by the bank of the blue river and waits patiently for Shinta to arrive.

As Umari sits by the bank looking at his reflection in the river, ripples begin to form distorting his image. Umari looks toward the center of the river and is splashed by a wave of water. Drench, he notices Shinta-sama standing in the middle of the river.

"Shinta-sama! When did you...? How...?"

"eh? hmm that's a good question?"

Umari contemplates Shinta's question before responding:

"hmm...well, I suppose water is alot like my personality. It appears passive and calm on the surface but can be strong enough to douse fire and even destroy something as solid as rock when applied properly."

"In battle, water is very versatile in it's uses. It can be used to attack as well as defend, and can also be used to confuse your opponent as well as lend support your friends. In addition, it can be combined with a all other 4 elements to create entirely new elements such as Ice and steam, and even wood."

Okay,

Ice is Water + wind,

Steam is Fire + Water,

Wood is Water + Earth

Storm is Water + Lightning.

How does water interact with these four elements when they are not being combined together? (Strengths/weaknesses/Neutrality)

Umari returns to his cross legged position an scratches his head as he ponders Shinta's question.

"Let's see...Ah! Water is weak against earth because earth can absorb water. But if the water user is skilled enough water can destroy even rock with enough pressure."

"Water and Fire? Water is strong against fire as it douses the flames"

"Water jutsu can be strengthened when lightning is applied. Water is a great lightning conductor. When lightning strikes a body of water the electricity travels through the water covering a wider radius possibly stricking multiple opponents at once."

"Water and Wind....that's a tough one I think these elements are neutral. When wind collides with water it can alter its form or intended effect. Like striking a water tech with say Futon Rasenshuriken can give the water jutsu a violent rotation causing a cyclone or torrent if standing on a large body of water like a lake."

Very nice indeed.

Now, you'll will need to use your chakra to take control of water or (later on) create water.

For this first one, send you water chakra into the lake over there (May need to walk a little closer) and use it to push a medium sized wave up onto the shore line.

Right Then.

Umari clammers to his feet and walks over to the edge of the river. He takes several paces back and places his hands together to focus his chakra. As the water chakra is gathered Umari send the water chakra into the lake and Kneads the water of the lake back and forth as if it were dough.

Umari notices that he isn't getting the desired effect because he is focusing his chakra and resisting the ebb and flow of the wave. After failing the 1st attempt Umari steels his resolve and attmpts the technique once again. This time Umari notices that his water chakra is not in sync with the motion of the river.

Focusing his chakra for brief moments and then releasing the hold, the water in the lake begins to sway subtley growing in motion and size. The water reaches its apex and forms a medium sized wave. Not paying attention to where the wave was directed, Umari is sweped off his feet and pulled into the river . Umari pulls himself out of the river and stands on its surface.

"WHOA! Did you sees that sensei?"

Very good work. You are spot on with making your chakra sync up with the water's flow. You see, water can be a stubborn donkey and prefers to go where it feels (Downhill, following gravity etc) so you need something to force it to do what you want it to do. Now wind can manipulate water only so much, so your chakra needs to do the work, by tricking water into thinking that it want to go where your chakra directs it. As such, you use your chakra to impose your will over the water, dragging, pushing, or pulling the water where you want it to go.

In this case you are forcing the water to separate from the main body, and float with your chakra through the air.

Make sure it is thick enough so I can no longer see you!

"Okay Sensei"

Still standing on the river's surface, Umari places his hands together and, once again, gathers his water chakra. Using what he learned from making the wave, Umari syncs his chakra to the river once more. This time instead of releasing his chakra for brief moments, Umari channels his chakra through his body down into his feet and out onto the surface of the water.

He then manipulates a good protion of the water on the surface of river causing water molicules to rise into the air creating a thick blinding mist over the area.

"eh? I can't see through this fog myself, sensei!"

Description: This displacement technique creates a thick mist to spring forth by lifting up some water from either a pre-existing source or expelled from their mouth, then goes in and out of sight at will from within the pearly-white realm. The mist's thickness is controlled by the amount of chakra kneaded into it. It can't fool the Byakugan, but, due to the mist being created with the user's chakra, any Sharingan and Rinnegan-user will see the mist coloured by their opponent's chakra, which will effectively hide the user from the dōjutsu.
Note: Can be created through releasing from mouth or manipulating a nearby water source.

Charge water chakra into one of your hands, using it to form a small amount of water which you'll shape into a small dagger. Make sure to reinforce the water with your chakra to it doesn't collapse into a puddle when striking something. Slash that tree over there, it should look like this Kunai slash *slashes the tree with a kunai*.

Okay!

After releasing the Hidding in Mist jutsu, Umari concentrates his water chakra in his left hand. He charges a small amount of water into the form of a small dagger similar in shape and size of a kunai. The dagger begins to wobble about loosing it's consistency.

Umari applies a more concentrated amount of chakra in to the small dagger reinforcing its shape and sharpness. Once the dagger is stable Umari traverses the surface of the lake over to the tree that Shinta sensei cut with his kunai. Umari takes a swing at the tree but the dagger immediately becomes soft and splashes a about.

Umari thinks for a moment and forms another small dagger in his left hand with water chakra. This time as he strikes the tree he forces a small burst of extra water chakra into the dagger allowing it to cut into the bark of the tree.

Umari: Phew! That was tricky.

Similar to how you made the water sword seem, solid, do the same with this next jutsu as you hold out your hands in front of you and try to create a half-spherical shield of water in front of you.

Umari: Alright here I go!

Using the same water chakra technique as before, Umari charges another small amount of water chakra in his right hand and extends his right arm out in front of him plam exposed. He shapes the water into a half sphere like shape and applies the same amount of concentrated water chakra to reinforce its solididy.

Umari: I think I'm getting the hang of Water Chakra sensei^_^

Now, channel water chakra into one of your arms and hold it out in front of you. Then release the chakra and use it to form a half spherical shield around you as a shield. Make sure the water is dense like before!

Description: The user will manipulate their water chakra and releasing it from their arm which is held outwards infront of them and they then create a shield of water that can aide in defence against projectile weapons and close combat techniques.


Send your water chakra into that lake next to you and manipulate the water to form a shark. Then manipulate the shark to jump up, out of the water and bite onto my clone.




and because I stuffed up like that...

After you strike that clone, aim this at my other clone...

Perform the Rat → Dog → Ox hand seals as you concentrate your chakra into one of your hands, using it to form a small ball of water of which you will shape a long whip of water. Use this to attack my clone in any way you see would benefit you or help you with a combination attack.

Umari: Ooh sweet! A combination attack! Okay, here goes nothing!

Umari heads back to the lake and walks back on top of its surface. supplying his water chakra into the surface of the lake, Umari manipulates a portion of the water and molds the water into the shape of a shark. The shark remains still momentarily as Umari supplies it with a more robust concentrated amount of water chakra which causes it to move about in a circle around him just beneath the river's surface.

Focusing on the sharks movements, Umari sends it deeper into the river and then towards Shinta-sama's 1st clone. Immediately upon submersion, Umari Performs the Rat → Dog → Ox hand seals while concentrating his water chakra into his left hand forming a small ball of water.

Umari forms the water ball into a long whip of water and whirls the whip around above his head several times matching the motion of the water before striking at the 2nd clone latching on to its right leg. Umari pulls back on the whip pulling the 2nd clone in front of the first clone just as the water shark jumps out of the river bitnig both clones at the same time.

The clones immediately burst into a puff of smoke.

Umari: (Huffing and trying to catch his breath from the overexertion of water chakra use) Pant...Pant...Pant...How was that sensei?

Focus water chakra into your mouth, changing it's properties so it becomes very viscose and sticky as you perform the Ram → Tiger hand seals. Then spit out a small amount of the sticky substance around that training dummies feet, then pull on that rope attached to him... If he flies out, you did it wrong, it he is stuck... well, you succeeded >_>

Umari: Okay, I'll give it a shot.

After catching his breath, Umari focuses his water chakra in his mouth. He Umari begins to chew on the water chakra in his mouth as if it were gum. After kneading a small amount of his own chakra into the water it begins to become viscose and sticky. Walking atop of the river surface toward the training dummies, Umari continues to chew the water chakra in his mouth.

As Umari approaches the dummies he spits a small amount of sticky substance around the dummy's feet. Pulling on the rope connected to the dummy Umari finds that the dummy slides right out of the scubstance.

Umari: Hmmm...not sticky enough...

Umari attempts the jutsu again, this time applying a more potent amount of water chakra in his mouth and begins to chew on it in his odd fashion. After a minute of chewing the viscosity of the water becomes very sticky. Umari, once again, spits the sticky substance at the dummy's feet.

After pulling on the rope once again, Umari finds that the dummy does not budge.

Umari: Bleh! that's a rather unpleasant texture.

So, if you can recognise what the substance is (If this where used against you) you can walk over it by channelling chakra into your feet.

Description: The user After performing the required hand seals Ram → Tiger spits out high-viscosity, chakra infused water, aimed at a surface of wide scope. This is a stream of sticky liquid which can be used to form an adhesive trap that can inhibit a person's mobility. One can effectively reduce their enemy's area of activity with this technique, and has the effect of being able to take complete control over the battlefield. The normal scope of this technique is normally just a few metres, but if prepared, it is also possible to make an entire pond of starch syrup. Being caught in the technique can be avoided by channelling chakra to one's feet allowing one to walk upon it uninhibited, beforehand.

Time to make your very own clone!!!!

Stand next to the lake and perform the Tiger hand seal, channelling your water chakra into the lake to begin manipulation it. As you do this, try to imaging a clear picture of yourself, using it as a template for what you will have to do next. Shape the water into a rough outline of you body shape and size and then begin to work on the finer details of it's appearance, the end result should be a perfect copy of yourself standing before you on the lake
