But on a serious note, I guess something like this could work. Gaara's sand is alive and provides an automatic defense whereas Katsuyu is alive as well and has a link with her summoner to provide feedback just like Gaara's sand. Gaara's sand has the advantage in that he can easily create more sand, whereas summoning Katsuyu is taxing. However, the Katsuyu liquid is far more versatile, though I don't think we've seen much of it.

1/10 of Katsuyu was rougly the size of a trunk of the Shinju tree, and was enough to cover the allied shinobi force, regular katsuyu can cover everyone in the leaf village. And Katsuyu is directly linked to the byakugou seal, she can use more chakra to summon more of herself, but I think 1/10 is more than enough to counter gaara, not to mention the oil like texture of Katsuyu....I wonder, I katsuyu form herself into a giant Fist, and Sakura channel her punch through her like she does with his medical ninjutsu, that could be OP>

She was limited on chakra, using the byakugou to regen and katsuyu at the same time isn't wise, given his diminished levels. And madara was using mokuton (it can absorb katsuyu in solid form), liquid Katsuyu could heal and act as Gaaras sand, but it was unwise because they had Gaaraas sand and again tsunade was low on chakra.

If they use Katsuyu slime like Gaara's sand, they will be unstoppable. Katsuyu is more versatile and flexible that Gaaraas sand.

It can even be used to weaken his Sand, given its oil like texture, not to mentions the attacks that can be channeled through Katsuyu. She can heal to kill, she can become acidic, even change form.
In this form she is immune to all physical damage, Shinra Tensi, and even the Corrusive Effects of Kurama, and probably Genjutsu.

And she is even more better than Gaaras sand, because of her mental connection with the Byakugou given them 360 feild vision., and her sensory skill, which further explains how they can control her, because their chakra already freely runs through her, not that they would even need to use chakra because of their mental connection..

She can relay images back to the byakugou of whats happening.

Bijuudama's release large explosion, even if katsuyu survives the blast somehow. She'd be vaporized by the intense heat. Katsuyu has never been shown to tank fire or heat type attack.
