I think madara did die sort off his body died but his soul didn't pass and he used hashiramas cells to make a new body and that's why he was linked to the place he said he could not leave

Yeah that's what I mean only dead people are In coffins lol so I think madara did die after or against hashi but his soul did not pass or something like that same with obito I think same thing happened to him
