How according to tobirama did the uchihas end up destroying themselves for the sake of the village?? I don't get it? Can any1 explain?

He just lied that they did it by themselves. Tobirama tried to suppress them to protect his own clan and not the village.

And later Uchiha tried to overcome Konoha for which they were been slaughtered.
