He's talking about Edo Hashirama who defeated Edo Madara.
Its known that Edos are weaker than the original forms (Madara is an exception since Kabuto modified him beyhond his prime), therefore Hashi doesn't need to be in his prime (weaker, edo form is enough) to take out this stronger version of prime Madara.
