I thought it was clear that the OP was talking about VoTE Hashirama (meaning no rods attached to Hashirama yet) and a freshly born Madara, which should imply that he still needs senjutsu from Hashirama's body. It's hard to picture Madara using the buddha without even having that at hand. He would need to acquire both things in battle. Not even claiming a victor to this battle but I feel like some posts are drifting from that fact...
