OK, I get the part about the disorder but why extermination was the only option? How about not persecuting them.... this is sth that really puzzles me: Tobirama explains the situation with the Uchihas brilliantly, then admits he gave them a post and a position that isolated them from other people and the village, Orochimaru steps in and points out the fault in his reasoning, and still the extermination plan was the only option? Seriously? Since when genocide is acceptable?

Genocide and mental health are rather modern issues. Also, since you mention it, Orochimaru wanted to be Hokage. By pointing out Tobirama's fault in dealing with the Uchihas, would the Uchihas been better off had Orochimaru got the position? He has ubercharisma, subordinates who sacrifice themselves willingly, etc. He knows what makes people tick.

Unless it was in hindsight and his own investigating that he knew what happened to the Uchihas.

I'm sure these aren't characteristics people look for in a Hokage.

Wait, are you speaking of Orochimaru? if so, what are you basing this information off of, and if you're referring to someone else, I apologize.

... Whereas Naruto is a historical novel? And wasn't Orochimaru the one who was experimenting on people? Can't we have people like Hashirama and Minato as hokages, individuals who actually respect other people and their lives?
