I was reading about theories for uchiha ancestor eye when I saw that is wasn't actually special. This makes me sad, because I had a big, complex theory about the origins of the spiral eyes. I went into the technicalities of the sharingan, assuming that it would be related because, you know, ancestorhood. I found the hypnotic and piercing eyes. I believe that the spiral eyes match these traits because first, it is shaped a bit like a hypnotic wheel, being like the origin of the hypnotic eye. Second, the eye looks like a whirlpool, which could describe first the sharingans apparently random ability to absorb things and the fact that apparently, nothing escapes the notice of the eye. Third, it looks like a seal, which could be the origin of the sharingan's abilities that use up the eye, which seals it away. fourth. it looks like a camera iris. This could be a reference to eyes that see in the dark, because cameras see in the dark. Fifth, It could be a reference to izanami, which takes pictures of certain events and replays them. Finally, it could be a reference to the sharingans's copying ability, which is almost like the camera, replaying the video it took, which copies the image perfectly. I thought that it was, simply, the first sharingan. plain, boring old sharingan. which we now know is true. All he had was the same, plain old sharingan.
