Two Ways?

So as we know Madara and Obito both tried to use Infinite Tsukiyomi to put everyone in a genjutsu. But I was wondering something Obito as we know planned on using the God Tree and having the fruit of it reflect upon the moon. While Madara used a different method since he had two Rinnegan he could open a third eye and have it reflect upon the moon.

So I was wondering if there is anything different about these two methods? And the whole thought of there being two ways?

So it would have been best to go with the God Tree fruit? Also do you think Madara purposely used that decision or had no choice?
