two things i noticed

okay first, you know that pein body that summons the outer path? why didnt nagato use that to heal his legs, seeing it could heal the pein body that was smashed apart?

second, when deidara beat gaara shouldnt the shukaku have been freed when he was unconscience?

perhaps but for the sake of the show kishi seems to contradict himself a lot

abou the first i thinksince he is the primary body he could only command the bodies and beeing an unrightfull owner of the Rinnegan (since madara stated that he gave the rinnegan to nagato) he was imprisoned by the demonic statue's power(the hooks on his back and chakra transmitters for the bodies)...

as for the second, gaara's training in controling the shukako and the fact that beeing uncounshious and asleep are diferent state's of mind(they really are) probabily influenced that..

pain probably didn't want to heal his own body because the crippled legs were part of his painful past (the time he "lost his innocence" and yahiko died)

and gaara was knocked out not sleeping, the shukaku is freed when the host falls asleep
