It seems to me that the panels with the brothers are happening on different nights during different phases of the moon for some symbolism...like the elder brother may have seemed to have been born a complete existence because of his power/talent, but in actuality he is in someway an incomplete existence (only acknowledged through fear) An existences who shuns others and walks alone(thus crescent moon)
while the younger son who was born an incomplete existence, lacking power/talent went on to actually become a complete existence(whole heatedly acknowledged) by filling what he lacked by cooperating with others(thus a full moon)
