Around 1:30 is when he gets bit. After the whole ordeal you can see him contemplating.

Still, the way it went down was pretty dumb. Should've just kept moving along rather than confront those walkers.

No he didn't.....heck he was ok with a 3 year extension.....but the showrunners decided to kill him. at the last moment...IMO it is a terrible move but I have not been keeping up ever since Negan came in but I do know that Carl does play a big role in the next couple of arc(comic)s....so ya....
