Also your not getting it, gold is pretty damn hard to scratch and penetrate (as is most metals) however they can be crushed with a great amount of force,Like a car for example as well...

Having hard skin saved Kimimaro from getting crushed by Gaara's coffin of crushing sand yet it can't save the 3rd Raikage, who is much more durable than Kimimaro, against a pressure wind attack that Hidan tanked, a guy who can't tank sand coffin.

When the Sandaime first accidentally stabbed himself, he managed to live through it but as an edo, due to the wound already being present, the hell stab went through this time completely. Also if you already have a cut, it is much easier to reopen that particular cut compared to normal healthy skin for the simple fact because there is no scar.

It doesn't change the fact that the 3rd Raikage's outer and internal body is much more durable than Kimimaro's who survived an attack that Hidan can't. That same attack that Hidan survives you are saying can do damage to the Sandaime Raikage.

BTW Kakuzu can't even beat the fourth Raikage much less the third. Atsugai is dodged, let's just leave it at that or the best it can do is strip lightning armour from the Sandaime but that is all. I guess it can blow the Third Raikage off his feet as well but that doesn't help Kakuzu finish him off.
