Some of ya'll need to listen to Take Care again.
That shit will always be a classic. I still bump it time to time.
Not to mention all of Drake's projects except the EP and TML are charting on Billboard, and if people weren't listening to them they wouldn't be charting still. Even ****ing TML re entered the Billboard charts out of nowhere a few months ago. 6 yr old album. Re entered a chart that counts streams.
But nah. No one's listening to Drake's old stuff at all.You must be registered for see images

Can't we just go back to when rap was good.

I agree with Toshi's con of Kendrick but no one is really pleased to listen to drake sing out a ***** hook after rapping about his wealth and hoes for a whole album :lol
word. most of my favourite drake tracks are on that album, below is one of themSome of ya'll need to listen to Take Care again.

I'll help the Drake side out, if you're trying to prove Drake can rap, it's certainly not doing it with those tracks.
Although he doesn't make tracks like this anymore, so there's that.
You gotta have a balance though imo TPAB was too focused on the art to the point where it took away from the ability to casually listen to it. It's not really an easy album to listen to. If you can make something that's easy to listen to and its complex, then you've got the perfect balance.
For that reason GKMC > TPAB imo.
You have to make something that's pleasing to the ears, we're talking about music afterall. Sometimes Kendrick strays from that, that's one of the only cons I can think of for Kendrick.
Are your rap skills worse? No. Overall you may be viewed as a worse rapper but when it comes to your actual technical skills they haven't changed at all. This logic doesn't even make sense to me. So the people who tell more meaningful stories are superior rappers to the people aren't telling stories like that regardless of actual ability?
Please don't say yes.
Lmao you didn't even understand what I said. To answer your question, it depends. When you say "actual ability" in rap you are talking about slick rhymes (and when I say slick rhymes im including the actual rhymes and the rhythmic way the lines in the verse are said) when in actuality rap is about the COMBINATION of slick rhymes and storytelling. Again, ITS THE DEFINITION OF RAP.
Soooo if we say for the sake of argument that Kendrick and Drake both have equal mad rhymes (which they don't) but Kendrick is much better at storytelling through those rhymes (which means he uses more meaningful words, metaphors, similes and more language devices not to mention has meaningful stories to tell) then Kendrick IS THE BETTER RAPPER.
It's all in the definition. I enjoy Drake's music a lot, but Kdot is on another level.
I'm not Drake's biggest fan either, but you can't deny that the guy is clearly talented at what he does from a technical standpoint. What you're referring to and arguing about is artistic guile, which is a category distinct from pure skill.
If Drake's desire is only to make stylish music, why should you hold that against him? Or his fans? The condescension isn't needed considering that you don't have to listen to him.
Music, being an art form after all, is inherently subjective. Try to figure out what others use as a benchmark for measuring the depth of a musician (or any artist, really) before assuming that others will follow your own tangential preconceptions. It's all in the eye of the beholder.
