Danzo really wanted the sake of Konoha, but the fact which differentiate him is his selfishness. Ninja like Hashirama, Tobirama, Hiruzen, Naruto ect... wanted also the sake of Konoha , they ensured Konoha's prosperity with the help of people, they trusted people and the next génération. They though that they need help of other to make this Mission.
Whereas Danzo believed that only him could protect effectively Konoha and ensure its prosperity. He saw himself as a providential man.
All Danzo's actions were done for the sake of Konoha, but in the point of view in which he is , he is the only Ninja able to ensure Konoha's prosperity.
I will talk only about Canon facts, no fillers.
Danzo's final plan was to make Konoha the First Ninja Power. He wanted to built the biggest political and military power. That is why Danzo wanted the sake of Konoha, because in fact he wanted Konoha's prosperity and power. Danzo wanted also peace, according to him if Konoha was the First world power as Hokage he could impose peace to the world. I think that the biggest Danzo's reproach against Hashirama it was the fact that Hashirama given 8 Bijuu to other villages and established a balance of power between the Five countries while Konoha could be the supreme nation.

- Danzo tried to destroy Akatsuki because Akatsuki according to him was a future potential threat for Konoha. Even if at this time Akatsuki leaders were good, their project could contradict Konoha's. Akatsuki was a sort of alter globalist movement whereas Danzo was a nationalist convinced by Konoha's independance and power quest. Also, by destroying the old Akatsuki he prevented a possible alliance between it and Ame village, which could increase Ame power and possible threat Konoha in the balance of power.
- Danzo give the order to massacre the Uchiha clan because they wanted to make a Coup d'Etat. Possible civil war which would weaken Konoha. Even Itachi agreed.
- Danzo stolen Shisui's eye because he needed Koto Amatsukami for his project and he believed that Shisui could use this Genjutsu against Konoha authority or for the benefit of his clan instead of Konoha's.
- Danzo thought that it was potentially an Uchiha who was responsible of Kyuubi attack. And he was right because it was Obito who controlled Kyuubi. According to Tobirama's special plan, Uchiha Surveillance Plan need to be increased. Because a potential new Madara that Tobirama feared was inside. Danzo just followed that plan.
- Danzo stolen Hashirama's cells and Sharingans because he needed to be powerful to incarnate the providential man that he wanted to become.
- Danzo refused to intervene during multiples invasion against Konoha, because it was a strategy of « necessary evil ». As Danzo thought he was the only able to make Konoha great again he needed a good politic situation for eventualy take power. After Pain attack, it was the best moment. He needed a weakened Konoha, to appear like a providential man and finally make Konoha great again.
- Danzo manipulated Mifune, because in his final plan Danzo thought that Konoha should be the First Ninja Power in the world. If his plan succeeded, Konoha would have been the central power during the war, and then Konoha would have been the winner of that war.
