First of all, Madara killing Rin and using zetsu as an imposter is just plain ridiculous because the scale is simply too huge to fool Obito this long who knows so much about zetsu, atleast now.
Then, if madara doesn't have anything to do with this then it's another thing. But, if madara does have something to do with this then
He must use an unimaginable way to hide his tracks from two sharingan's and must fool two close friends.
Well, the legendary Rinnegan's powers is only known to it's user or someone who fought him as his equal. Since his equal isn't there anymore, he must have used an incredible technique from his huge arsenal like a superb genjutsu not known to anyone or anyone can even suspect.
