I was watching once again dragon ball Z and while i was watching the androids and cell saga, i found something a bit interesting, when trunks timetraveled to the past and change the past , the two universes got split up, therefore the universe of future trunks is a totally separate universe to the present universe, therefoere even if he changed the events of the present, he didnt modify his own universe.
Also there's also another interesting fact when trunks uses the time machine to travel to the past and comes back he doesnt seem to come back to his own timeline right after he left but rather if he spent 5 days in the past, when he comes back to his own future universe after 5 days too, so whenever he timetravels to the past and spends a certain time in the past he also seems to come back after that gap of time passed on his timeline, the way i came up with this is by watching future bulma's reaction after trunks comes back to his own timeline, and she seems to have missed trunks and if trunks came back right after he left then there shouldnt be any reason for future bulma to miss him, so if bulma missed him that means trunks wasnt around for sometime and didnt come back right after he left but he came back sometime after he left and that gap of time seems to be a little long like the time he spent in the present.
