This is yet another set of sanctions that was placed on Russia and things are intensifying.
These sanctions don't single out Russia, but include North Korea and Iran as well.
The unfortunate thing about Iran is this this sanction breaches the arms the U.S. made with Iran which was working out well. We had sanctioned them before and the Iran deal was made so that they would "redesign, convert, and reduce its nuclear facilities and accept the Additional Protocol (with provisional application) in order to lift all nuclear-related economical sanctions, freeing up tens of billions of dollars in oil revenue and frozen assets."
The point here is that they were complying and we sanctioned them again, another nuclear power, and I have a feeling there won't be a timid response, which could potentially escalate even more.
As for Russia, the Prime Minister had this to say:
"New sanctions on Russia which U.S. President Donald Trump has signed into law are tantamount to a “full-scale trade war”, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday."
“The hope that our relations with the new American administration would improve is finished,”
I wonder how the next meeting between Trump and Putin will go?
As our president vehemently says: "Not Good."
