Im unsure of sanders i havnt been able to keep up on the debates but i agree that he may be one of the better candidates as opposed to the main ones
Well to give a rundown of some of his policies:
1. He wants a single-payer Healthcare system which guarantees coverage to everyone. It is exponentially less expensive than what we pay for our current private insurance and it will cover everyone. Before you make the argument that the quality of the coverage will go down, the reason why private insurance is more expensive is mostly due to the fact that we pay monthly premiums which only go into the pockets of the CEO rather than resources.
2. He wants to break up Wall-Street and bring back Glass-Steagall. What that means is that he wants to make sure that there is no more investment banking which is a major cause of economic upsets. He also wants to hold the banksters accountable for their actions rather than just slapping a fine on them and let them continue to do what they do. He also wants money out of politics.
3. He wants to make public college tuition free by taxing Wall-Street. Free public college has existed before in the U.S. and was first instituted by President Lincoln up until Reagan pushed for widespread tuition.
4. He wants to put a marginalized tax on the rich. So people that make over 200k a year will start to have their taxes increase. This will help redistribute wealth and economic growth in the middle class. This policy has existed before under many presidents and they had a tax rate that went up as high as 90%. This is nothing new in the U.S and it helps the economy.
5. He wants to invest in alternate energy resources and combat global warming. This will create many new jobs and also create new forms of less expensive energy as opposed to keep burning fossil fuels which will continue to harm the environment and continue to become more expensive.
6. He is against sending ground troops to Syria and spending more money on the military. Our military is already bigger than the first 9 major countries combined and we spend for than 14 times on the military than any other country. Cutting the funding would help our economy and still maintain the most powerful military.
7. He wants to fight systematic racism. One way of approaching this is by demilitarizing the local police, having police forces that reflect the diversity of the community, by investing in community policies, and more.
8. He wants to increase the minimum wage to a more livable wage ($15).
9. He wants to support the veterans by funding and expanding the care of the veterans themselves and their families.
