Why is it that many tribes and ethnicities were descended from a particular man and would be named after him?

Israelite, Japhethite, Hamite, Shemite, Amalekite, Hittite, Edomites.

Is it wrong to want to make your own tribe or ethnic group of descendants? Why do you think humans did this in particular anyways, my favorite comedian Bill Burr said that megalomaniacs of the Bronze Age flocked to that idea of power and legacy and decided to run with it.

What do you guys think? This sort of nation forming caused a lot of wars and erased a lot of tribes that very few people alive have any relation to by blood.

Personally I think a distinction in bloodlines by name would be a good way to prevent interbreeding.

Above and beyond that, like all pack animals, most people want to be led and with that, Alphas aren't likely to subordinate themselves to other Alphas and would make sense for them to strike out on their own and create their own family or tribe just like every other pack species. I see nothing unusual about that at all.
