Ah, so you're coming to Japan huh? I live here :p

It's really a laid back place, the hard part is navigating. (Which isn't really too hard)

The food is amazing wherever you go, but steer clear of those hardcore Japanese restaurants, they will serve you weird stuff. Unless your into that thing haha.

Well I could give you a lot of advice on places to go and what to see, but I don't really know your situation. They have an amazing theme park, Fujikyu. It has roller coaster that you will not find in America ;) They're amazing, you should definitley get over there if you get the chance.

When it comes to buying stuff, don't worry too much. Most of the times they have English menu's, and you can just point at what you want and they'll understand. They're quite familiar with English speakers :)

Feel free to message meh if you want more advice

@Bold; you mean dogs and new born babies? :heh:

I don't know much about Japan to be honest but sure in almost all culture fest they wear kimono's or something. (From le animes)
I won't give you any stupid advice. xD Just wishing you a lot of luck! ^_^

I've lived in Japan for a total of two months. Altogether.

- Google Maps will be your best friend when it comes to traveling on the Tokyo Metro System.
- If you want to travel across Japan, buy a J-Rail Pass. You can only buy it outside of Japan and they usually ship really fast.
- They have Onsen and Public hot springs everywhere and mixed naked ones still exist (Hoyoland in Beppu is an example).
- Don't tip in restaurants. You don't need to. And you don't pay tax generally when you buy things. Except maybe something like jewelry.

- Toei Studio in Kyoto is awesome. I skipped all the temples (except gold one) to go there and it was amazing. I paid about $140 to dress up in a costume and had my makeup professionally done in a studio and got to walk around with swords in an Edo-Period Naruto-style town taking pictures of myself.
- Spa LaQua is a good public bath/onsen to go to. It also is a hotspring and has orange mineral water. It costs about $25, and has a really great Korean spa-like place upstairs for an extra $5 you can go there and lounge and use these different themed saunas. And you can stay overnight for an extra $18. It is worth it to go once and is next to Tokyo Dome, which is at Koeken station I think. Which has a Bubba Gump Shrimp there, a roller coaster and other things.

- Japan-guide.com will be a big help to you.

Harajuku is a place for youth fashion by the way. You'll find tons of great young peoples fashions there. Takidori street is where you will want to start. You can easily go from Shinjuku to there via the JR Rail system rather than the metro. It is about a few stops away.

Don't worry Ume, they don't eat babies and dog meat hasn't be considered 'normal food' for over a 1000 years.
