There are some who wish to become disabled by choice, and would even seek the removal of body parts to voluntarily become disabled, the National Post in Canada reports. Transabled individuals say they “feel like impostors in their fully working bodies.” The National Post reports this in their coverage of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Ottawa.
The National Post reported on someone calling himself One Hand Jason who said he cut off his right arm with a “very sharp power tool” and claimed it was an accident. He had prepared for month to do the act, including practicing on animal parts he obtained from a butcher, before actually cutting off his own arm and claiming it was an accident. The result was becoming disabled, and calling himself One Hand Jason.
