Hey there Oro

Now we'll kick off training with some theory first; what is Earth Release in terms of the anime/manga? What are it's strengths and weaknesses?

Then I'd like you to give me 3 people from the anime/manga that has shown exceptional use in Doton.

 

[Lord Orochimaru]

Earth release is one of the basic 5 elements. Earth release is used for mostly defensive purposes and also can be used for offensive purposes. Earth Chakra allows user to control the ground of the surrounding.

Earth is strong against Water as it can defend against it and can also absorb some of its force and Earth is weak against Lightning due to its sheer piercing power. Earth can be used to defend against most other elements.

And as for users,Hiruzen, Kitsuchi and of course Oonoki.

Aright so I see you understand the theoretical application of Doton. Time to begin.


The most rudimentary form of the release, swords, shields, pillars, shoes, whatever you want made of stone/earth- this technique will grant it to you.

Turning a chunk of rock into a spear you can throw one for max accuracy or multiple for a lowered accuracy but high area of effect. Or you could just go commando on your foes and stab them head on, you decide.

Focusing Doton in your arm you create a ring of rocks around said arm that can be thrown at the opponent. Simple stuff, don't go hurting yourself now.

Itachi closes his eyes and starts molding Doton chakra into his stomach which he then channels to his hand and thinks of a sword, then a sword made of earth is formed in his hands. He holds the sword in one hand and examines it carefully.
He then remarks "Wow!, so I can make swords out of thin air!"

Next, Itachi focuses this new chakra in his right arm and then releases it from his right hand which creates many chunks of rocks around his hand in the form of a ring. He then swings his arm forward throwing the rocks.

"This can be used to save my lawn from stray dogs" smiled Itachi.

Next, perform the Rat handseal and manipulate the earth to make several rock sections rise out of the ground surrounding your target. Then control them to form two larger sections you make come together and crush whatever is between them. Find your next victim.

Good enough...the performance, not the rap. o-o Now i'll show you an useful method of underground travel. You will need to channel doton chakra around your body, transforming the ground you are touching into fine sand that will be easy to dig through swiftly. Not only that, while you are underground you should be able to sense your location and people on the surface through the earth's magnetic fields. Finish this obstacle course. I recommend cheating.

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.

Next, simply point your arm at your target and manipulate the ground, creating a few sharp pillars of rock to impale him from below. Pick one from the roster and do your thing.

Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target if these are less dense. The pillars/spikes can be done in any earthen surface, including other earth techniques of the user.

Here is another easy jutsu. Send your doton chakra throughout the ground and manipulate the earth causing it to shake a bit and knock your target off balance. There's your target.

ANd then starts with his raps,
He looks at that Golden trophy,
and then makes a smile, that is cocky.
Ya fool, ya fool, ya fool
You can't stop me cause I will break the rule.

Then he channels doton chakra around his body and turns the soil into sand through which he digs swiftly like a mole. He digs a hole and as he can sense what is above the ground with the earths magnetic field, he moves forward skipping everything. he then reaches right under the golden cup and rises to the surface.

The golden cup is what Itachi has got,
but through the earth in just one shot,
The lava has failed, the traps have failed,
and so has the animals which are tailed.

Ok. Now simply produce mud in your mouth as a thick, sticky blob and spit it at your target. As an attack it's hardly damaging but aim at the face and you could blind and choke the enemy. It could also work as a sticky trap if aimed at the floor. Ruin his day.

(Doton: Dorosandan) – Earth Release: Mudshot

Description: The user spits a thick globule of mud at the target. If aimed correctly, it can blind the target's vision and choke them. It can also be used to create a sticky patch on the ground.

*leads you to a large cave*

Next, manipulate the rock in the ceiling of this cave to separate the rocks holding up the ceiling. This will make them come loose and cause the entire ceiling to collapse and fall on anyone inside. Not limited to caves only, the damage varies with the size of the earthen structure, meaning a large enough stucture can damage the enemy like an A rank technique. However, the falling rocks aren't fortified or manipulated by chakra so they are also easy to defend against. Try it out.

(Doton: Iwa Yado Kuzushi) - Earth Release: Stone Lodging Destruction

Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A (up to 60)
Descripton: The user will do one hand seal and cause nearby earth structures (either natural occurring ones on the field (such as cave ceilings, cliffs, etc), man made (buildings, etc) or jutsu made (up to C-Rank active structures)) to collapse and fall. This technique allows the ninja to control nearby stone and rock and dislodge any vulnerable or sensitive spots, causing the structure to collapse. This can be especially useful if in a cave or a stone lodging. The technique can loosen the rocks and cause them to come raining down on whomever is trapped inside. The damage depends on the size of the cavern or rock lodging above or nearby the target and not on the amount of chakra used which doesn't need to be high. A large cave with a thick ceiling can easily do the physical damage equivalent to an A-Rank technique but due to the damage not being focused or chakra fueled, its also easily defendable.

Now perform the Tiger handseal and transform the ground beneath your target into a river of mud to make him lose his balance as he is carried away from you. Watch out, one of these guys is getting a bit rape-y o_o
