Excellent. I'll be in character (Souji, looks are my avatar) for this.
*Souji enters to see his student waiting for him. Early... a sign of greatness, maybe? Hm. He was carrying his sheathed katana by a strap his right shoulder*
Ok, good morning! I'm Souji Seta of Konoha, your sword teacher for today. *friendly, casual tone of voice* I swear I've seen you around the village. Give me a short introduction to yourself before we continue. Sound good?
*plops down and sits in a relaxed position on the ground*

[Itachi sees his sensei enter. He takes a glimpse at the katana and smiles. He then responds to his sensei.]
"Of course. First, I'd like to thank you for being my sensei for today."
[Itachi bows to Souji respectfully]
"My name is Itachi Uchiha. I have since recently become a ninja in Konoha and have been excitedly working with all my fellow comrades and teachers to improve my skills so that I may be a powerful asset to the village. As such, here I am today, eager to learn the art of kenjutsu."
[Itachi then follows suit and sits down on his legs and back straight up]
"Of course. First, I'd like to thank you for being my sensei for today."
[Itachi bows to Souji respectfully]

Now, I hope you've brought a sword with you. If so, place it in front of you as I did, and give me your thoughts and opinions on Kenjutsu. We can continue discussing this while we go through the training.

[Itachi gives a little smirk of embarrassment, not wanting to admit he hasn't unlocked his Sharingan yet. Regardless, he nods and takes out a wrapped katana and unwraps it, placing it in front of him inside its sheath.]

What I love is that the sword is one of the simplest weapons, yet in the hands of a master, can become one of the most versatile weapons in battle. Itachi nods. He stands up and picks up his sword, and unsheathes it. The sword is a brand new katana, that has no special designs or significance. The katana is smooth and sharp, with no signs of being used before, and the hilt of the sword is a simple all black design.
Itachi then stands in his position. He follows suit with his sensei, placing his right foot ahead of his left. His right foot is facing straight forward, while his left food is facing perpendicular to his right. He holds the katana with only his right hand, extended in behind him with the sword tilted slightly towards the front. His left hand is extended forward, slightly bent at the elbow, with an open palm out.
Itachi then stands in his position. He follows suit with his sensei, placing his right foot ahead of his left. His right foot is facing straight forward, while his left food is facing perpendicular to his right. He holds the katana with only his right hand, extended in behind him with the sword tilted slightly towards the front. Now, for the very first kenjutsu, you have to-
*suddenly, out of nowhere, two random bandits attack Souji and Itachi, springing out of the bushes. They look kinda weak and laughable; nothing two shinobi couldn't handle. The bandits both run towards Souji, screaming something that might have been intimidating... to children >_>*
*Planting his right foot on the ground (the forward one), Souji raises and pulls back (bends) his left leg, delivering a powerful kick that sends one of the bandits flying backward into the bushes. He doesn't lose his sword's grip, remaining firm as he plants his left foot behind his right again. Just before the second bandit can come attack, Souji starts swinging his sword. From the bandit's point of view, Souji would make light slashes across his chest area, leaving an 'X' on his chest. After the second downward diagonal slash, he would bend his knees slightly and spring upward, dealing a heavy upward slash that left a deeper cut on the bandit, forming a "*" shape. The bandit fell unconscious, likely to bleed to death. Souji resumed his stance as if nothing happened*

Itachi gets surprised by the sudden break in of the two men. He turns his attention to them and is becomes memorized at his sensei, moving so swiftly and elegantly to subdue his opponents, while being so relaxed. At the sight of the second man getting up and heading towards Itachi, he prepares himself after his sensei tells him to take care of him. He attentively responds.
"Yes sir."
Wanting to impress his sensei, he takes in a breath to relax, as he knows tensing up in a situation like so would be the worst thing to do. He stands with his right foot back and his left foot forward, and his right hand holding the sword behind him as his left hand is bent slightly in front of him. As the man nears Itachi, Itachi steps forward with his right foot and follows through with his sword, striking the man diagonally from his left shoulder to his right hip. Staying with his momentum, as soon as Itachi's sword goes through the right hip, he lifts the sword to keep the speed going, up to the man's right shoulder and swings down diagonally to the man's left hip. Finally, Itachi extends his sword out to his right, (the man's left), grabs his sword with the other hand, and strikes horizontally across the man's stomach, intersecting his previous two strikes. Itachi then stays holding his sword out as the man falls to the floor. After falling to the floor, Itachi relaxes, and continues to hold his sword up, and looks to his teacher.
"...Taken care of" He says with a light smile and chuckle.

Well then, looks like I won't need to hold your hand too much with these jutsus. However, I will give you tips on the performances. For that last technique, you don't just have to do two small strikes and a large strike, but you can perform multiple slashes... as long as you finish off with the big attack. However, as a drawback, know that doing more attacks is a little slower in the long run.
*Sensei made a shadow clone of himself*
Now, this jutsu's relatively simple, but what's interesting here is that it combines Taijutsu and Kenjutsu. First, you'll run up to my clone and attack him with free-form taijutsu, and finish him off with two slashes of your blade. For this exercise, I want you to focus on your 'intent'... when attacking an enemy, it's easy to say 'I hit him', but why? Why do you hit him where you do, and what is the 'intent'?
So... say I punch you in the stomach. What would be my goal? It would be to keel you over, cause stomach pain, and leave you vulnerable to a follow up jutsu.
In conclusion, have a smooth and continuous combination against my clone here.

Itachi listens closely and nods after hearing his Sensei's order.
"I understand."
Itachi turns his direction to the clone and looks at it with heavy intent. He then rushes to the clone. He steps on the clone's foot with his right foot to hold it still as Itachi punches the clone in the jaw with his left hand. This hit pushes him back and turns the clone's direction to facing away from Itachi. Additionally, as Itachi was standing on the clone's foot, the clone does not fly back completely and stays close enough to be struck with the sword as he is falling to the floor facing away from Itachi. While the clone's back is turned from the hit, Itachi takes his sword in his right hand and moves it to his left side over his left shoulder. He then makes a diagonal slash from his upper left side to his lower right side, effectively slashing the clone in the back. Itachi then grips his sword with his left hand when it is near his lower right side and, with both hands, strikes from underneath the clone vertically upward, making the clone disappear from the strike. Itachi then takes a breath and looks to his Sensei eager to learn more.

"Well, most obviously, a tanto is much smaller than a standard sword. Because of that, the handle is meant for single hand holding. I'd assume that due to the size, this isn't an effective tool for striking or slicing attacks. Rather, this tool suits stabbing and quick fencing-like strikes. Naturally, my mindset would change to being more speed oriented and making several quick little punctures as opposed to more serious wounds. That's about all I can say though."

Tantos are also faster due to their size... their center of gravity is closer to you, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Now take that tanto and walk over to that target over there. Spin yourself like a top with the sword held out, striking the target and cutting him up!

As he is spinning, he holds out the tanto which makes repeated strikes at the target, slicing it up in the process. Itachi stops and takes a minute to say something.
"This is quite a unique style of striking using a tanto, but it's effective. The lighter weight also makes it easier to spin."

Next! This one only works while you're in mid-air. When you're up there, point your sword down and take a drilling motion, aiming towards your opponent on the ground.
What's cool here is that it prevents you from being vulnerable by forcing your opponent to counter an attack rather than hit you while you're up there.

Realizing what he is supposed to do, Itachi spins midair and raises his feet above his head so that his body is perpendicular to the ground and his head is facing the ground. He takes the sword in one hand and has it pointed straight, but near his chest, while his left arm is extended straight out with his fist ready. As soon as he nears the clone, Itachi pulls back his left arm and moves his right arm forward at the same time, making for efficient movement and better speed.
