One/three advantages:

1. The obviousness of this tech as a genjutsu is quite less, also it's quick to perform which is pretty useful
2. It might take time for the enemy to realise he's in gen so his ability and concentration to break out will be less likely
3. Causes great mental damage to the enemy if done correctly
One/three disadvantages:

1. The enemy can still take steps to avoid the snakes efficiently even if it's a gen avoiding mental damage
2. Depending on the terrain I wouldn't think it's profficiant to use this tech while on other area like water or on top of a boulder, assuming it will make it much more obvious as a gen
3. N/A
How you would use it in battle:
To cause mental stress, which will leave the enemy quite vulrnable, seemingly when he's binded by the snakes inside the gen in reality I can prepare an attack to finish him off.
How you would counter it:
Kai, although it's very unlikely to figure this jutsu as a gen, but even so I presume avoiding the snakes if predicted within the gen should work just as well I presume.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
I look at your clone which is standing right before me and clap both of my hands together as he hears the sound he's successfully caught within the genjutsu, suddenly the snakes emerge from the ground grasping him and binding him tightly, causing sever mental stress and damage upon the enemy.
