I prefer snakes over toads as, unlike toads, snakes can be used with a little more discretion and can utilize the elements of surprise and/or over whelming numbers to subdue a foe. These are some aspects I feel would fit me in the Arena.
The other main reason is because I want to be able to use Shadow striking snakes (the one where two snakes shoot out of your sleeve) xD

I can't teach that Shadow Strike thingymabob.

You know how summoning scrolls work right? How might you want to summon a snake?

Well, summoning a snake from a scroll... I'd assume if I wanted to summon any particular individual, they would have their own seal for me place my hand on and summon. Actually summoning them would involve unravelling the scroll, smearing blood on my hand and performing the seals, slamming my blood smeared hand on the seal and injecting chakra to 'call' the snake the this side of the seal.

Well, what I want you to do now is to wait for that ink to dry, and then attempt a summoning spell. I'm sure you learned it already.

*Waits for the ink to dry on my arm*

Well, I guess I'll give it a shot.

*I reach into my shuriken pouch and run my right thumb over the edge of a shuriken, drawing a small amount of blood. I then perform a series of hand seals after smearing the blood across my left palm, slamming it on the ground as I fous a moderate amount of chakra through my hand. A small seal appears around my hand and a puff of smoke appears, I then feel the bite of a small serpent who was obviously startled after being summoned abruptly.*

:bouncy: My very own pet snake!

Repeating the actions I performed to summon this random snake, I this time focused a significantly larger amount of chakra into my right hand, releasing all of it into the summoning seal.

Manda, from what I've heard he is a very angry snake. A rather large and purple coloured snake, Manda is essentially the boss summon of the snake contract at can also be seen as Orochimaru's personal summon.
