EMBATTLED Malaysia Airlines has axed its “ultimate bucket list” competition name after it was labelled "macabre”.
The airline announced last week it would be giving away 12 return economy airfares to Malaysia to
Australian and New Zealand customers as part of a promotion titled “My Ultimate Bucket List”.
“To enter, customers will need to tell Malaysia Airlines which destinations are on their must-see bucket list after booking their flight,” the airline’s announcement
said. Coming in the wake of twin tragedies involving Malaysia Airlines planes, the competition came under
fire with media and PR watchers describing it as “macabre”, “ill-conceived” and “one of the worst
possible choices for the company”.
TIME magazine labelled the association with “a list of
things that one has not done before but wants to do before dying” as “horrific”.
