Stolen car driven by teen kills father Mal Osborne, 58, in horrific crash at Beenleigh on his way to work.
WORKMATES have paid tribute to the man who was tragically killed in a high-speed car crash in Brisbane's south yesterday.Mal Osborne, 58, was driving to work about 8am Saturday when a white Holden Commodore veered onto the wrong side of Milne Rd in Beenleigh and crashed head-on with his car.
The Commodore had been stolen from a Beenleigh house on Friday night and was being driven by a 19-year-old man at the time of the crash.Boss Kurt Evans said Mr Osborne, a spare parts interpreter for heavy machinery firm David Evans Group, was an affable man who was held in high regard by the industry.
"He was a gentle soul, who had many years of experience in the industry," he said."He was a team player, who was committed and hard-working. He was well-respected and well-liked by customers and colleagues alike."
Wife Linda, 57, said the father-of-two had not been rostered to work that weekend but had swapped shifts with a co-worker.
"He wasn't even supposed to be starting work that early," she said.
"He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time."
