Johan.
Makishima.
Minister Fujiwara.

Since their roles are already completed I name them as my favorite villains, I have others but their roles are still on going.

Top 3 is hard because after Johan Liebert the gap is kinda big I think. I haven't read Berserk though, they say Griffith is a good villain too. But Johan is like no powers, no weapons except for a normal gun, and yet he is real terror (also perhaps the most brutal too). Basically the kind of criminal you wish that he doesn't exist in reality :p

Ugh I suppose it was personal preference that Didn't place the Major on here I just didn't find him all that interesting

Replaced with light? Griffith I hear good things about but light? No way he's such a pitifuly written character for a villain imo how does he even compete with Makishima character wise?

Izaya's extremely complex if you take the time to look at it .-. With so much depth why shouldn't he be top 3? Ugh but I guess the Major was a really good villain and character >.> With his whole humanity thing

He's basically the same as Johan, just a symbol of pure evil to play the antagonist, but not packaged nearly as well. Definitely a better public speaker, though:)

How is he pitifully written? If we're going off just that, then no other villain competes with Light, including Johan. I've seen dozens of anime since I first got into the medium and I've yet to find more than a handful of characters with better development or writing than Light, let alone villains.

I dunno about complex, bro. He's fun, I'll say that, but only a handful of characters in Durarara!! actually have complexity. I can't really recall any time I've seen Izaya in any other state of mind than his usual chipper, psychotic self. lol

Izaya when he's contemplating human existence not to mention the series is still on going.

Light may have had development but I wouldn't call it good, he swiftly became arrogant and far less impressive as the show went on, and he really had no way of reaching his ideal beside "Killing every criminal" Which is far more primitive, Ill admit yes Johan wanted to kill everyone and anything but he came about it in a far more menacing manor.... IDK I just wasn't impressed with light
I think Makishima (Who is a complete parallel in ideals btw) Just had a far more interesting character. Maybe light would of been more impressive with a better way of going about and reaching his ideals but his way of doing things just doesn't cut it for me.

Public Speaker? Yeah probably, Johan doesn't really do public speaking... One can argue the major did it too much though, towards the end he kind of got a little tedious... Then again I watch english dub so having to deal with that accent .... was tough

Johan doesn't need to speak to scare the living shit out of you, man I wish he had just a little more interaction with other characters >.>

Yeah I agree, I was trying so hard to think of a number two after him but it's just hard. They all seemed to far away. That whole series was just a masterpiece though.

Yeah, but that's not really something unique to him. Most villains have their own views on the rest of humanity, and he's certainly not the only one who sees them merely as playthings. It is indeed, and I wait patiently:)

Oh, this ain't a Light vs. Johan thing, man. Trust me, no one wins that battle. lol But I can't not defend Light when I've yet to see any character top his writing. And that there's basically why he's so well-written, man. Starts off well-intending, gets cocky, gets a God complex, then everything falls apart and so does he. He's meant to get more pathetic as the show goes on and as for the criminal killing aspect, that's kinda the whole meaning of the series, man. It's essentially responding to the idea of killing for the greater good of society (who hasn't thought of that at one point?) and Light's supposed to be a foil for how that might play out. He's an extremely well-written and thought-out character.

Oh come on, man, that was the best performance in the dub. lol

XD I liked walters voice tbh 0.o Favorite character had to be the colonel XD Idk why he was just boss

Perhaps he may of been well written for where the show wanted him to end up but for a villains standpoint? He just wasn't top tier

Izaya is just a boss bish accept it >.> Hehehe
