Too much stupidity

1/2 Hashi + Madara
3/4 Itachi + Sasuke
5-10 Hiruzen, Muu, Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Minato

The rest of the guys are only good because of enhancements they were given that are not a part of their original genetic make up. (Nagato Rinnegan, Naruto Bijuu, Obito Senju DNA, Kakashi Sharingan)

Kakashi was considered a prodigy prior to receiving the sharingan. He's the earliest we know of to manage to become jonin, as he did so at what appears to be around 10 years old.

It would just depend on how we're using the word prodigy. Prodigy as in child prodigy? Or simply people with abilities that surpass their peers?

When the word prodigy is used, it mostly means a young person

thus the dictionary definition

prod·i·gy
/ˈprädəjē/
Noun
A person, esp. a young one, endowed with exceptional abilities.

If this is the meaning the op meant, I dont get why people are listing madara and hashi, when we have absolutely no idea how strong they were at 10-17 around there

1. Minato - Stated by the likes of Jiraiya, Tsunade and Itachi to be a prodigy with potential that will never return again. Never had any sort of Kekkai Genkai to our knowledge, no all-powerful clan raising him and more. He created unique jutsu like Flying Thunder God and Rasengan.

2. Orochimaru - Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage and arguably the most powerful ninja in Konoha history said he is a prodigy who appears only once in every generation. Has knowledge over almost all ninjutsu and creating a countless number of jutsu and kinjutsu. Arguably the strongest Sannin.

3. Itachi - What more can I say about him? ANBU captain by 13, slaughtered arguably the strongest clan ever almost single-handedly, produces genjutsu more powerful than Kurunei and more.

4. Kakashi - Graduated the academy by the age of 5, can use the Mangekyo Sharingan relatively well for a non-Uchiha, became Jounin by the age of 13, and created Chidori.

5. Nagato - Stated by Jiraiya to be a prodigy. Mastered every jutsu that Jiraiya was able to teach him, mastered all 5 of the Nature releases, solo'd most of the Root along with most of Amekagure's shinobi and Hanzo.

6. Obito - People will flame for this but I think Obito was a prodigy because he is probably the single person who uses the Mangekyo Sharingan most efficiently and best. He was boosted by Hashirama cells, but even if this is the case he must have some aptitude of control over it - Danzo almost became a frikin tree when he lost control of it. He controlled Kyuubi at the age of 14-16 which is an achievement that only him and Madara accomplished.

7./8. Neji - Basically mastered the Byukugan, was easily the second or third strongest Genin at the time of the Chuunin Exam and more.

7./8. Sasuke - A true successor to the Sharingan. Bolted past the academy and was regarded as a genius to nearly everyone in the village, including his late father. Has a powerful Amatertsu and Susasnoo now.

9. Naruto - At first a 'dead last' but now arguably the most powerful ninja ever. He learned the Rasengan and was able to use it strategically in a short period of time. He mastered Sage Mode, something even Jiraiya couldn't do, and Orochimaru wasn't capable of doing. Had some control over the Kyuubi most of his life

10. Rock Lee - Another controversial one but look at him. He was basically the most 'disabled' ninja you can think of. He was stuck with Taijutsu with absolutely no skill to learn Ninjutsu or Genjutsu. He was able to bypass this and become the second greatest Taijutsu master ever; able to open 5 gates when he was genin and had very smart strategies which showed through in his epic battle with Gaara. This disabled child went on to smack Madara in the face . Obviously a prodigy in his own right.

What is your list? Discuss and debate but politely please :)
Your rankings are completely messed up, some don't even belong there
...
I'm not sure how you're defining 'prodigy'

But if this is purely in terms of intellect and pure innate skill, only:
Minato, Itachi, Oro, Sasuke, Kakashi, Neji belong here. Rest aren't up to scratch.

^These would be the true prodigies because they were always praised accordingly when they were younger

Ranking them is difficult but I think it'd go like this:
1. Itachi/Minato/Sasuke (shared between all 3)
2. Oro/Kakashi
3. Neji

That's as best as I can do it.

I'll never include Naruto in this sort of list, because he was always the black sheep, he really had no discernible talent, the only thing he had was immense chakra courtesy of Kurama, most shinobi could reach his current level of strength perhaps even more quickly had they been a jinchuriki.

However, give someone a Sharingan and see how far they go with it, they'll likely never gain MS, let alone EMS. Danzo could barely use the Sharingan well, he used it rather daftly.

I think it goes like this (in no order):

1) Minato
2) Itachi
3) Sasuke
4) Neji
5) Shikamaru
6) Orochimaru
7) Madara
8) Kakashi
9) Hiruzen
10) Kabuto
I would state this :

1. Hashirama
2. Madara
3. Naruto
4. Itachi.
I believe naruto and sasuke should always be first.
However based on current events naruto is undoubtedly #1. Whilst sasuke takes #2.

The other 8 is made up of, in no order
Kakashi
Sasori
Oro
Itachi
Neji
Minato
Hiruzen
Shisui
Killer Bee
Itachi
Sasori
Minato
Orochimaru
Kabuto
Sasuke

Neji
Kakashi
Tsuchikages granddaughter

In the sense that a prodigy is a being with abnormal aptitude for success and extraordinary skill at a young age, the bolded or underlined names are not prodigies, there are excellent ninja none the less but they aren't prodigies. The italicized are debateable.

These shinobi however are definitely prodigies:
Nagato
Itachi
Hashirama
Tobirama
Madara
Izuna
Orochimaru
Minato
Hiruzen
Killer Bee
Sasori

there was only one prodigy ..and he was called Uchiha Itachi ..The Uchihas Prodigy
by far Izuna and Madara out way itachi for the Uchihas. They were the first to get MS and that was said to be around the age of 12 or 13, the only other that could beat Madara in his prime besides Hashirama would be Izuna. Even after he gave Madara his eyes, Izuna still was a kick ass blind ninja.

First, your description for Minato wasn't stated in the manga. Secondly, Itachi beat Orochimaru at age 10-11 when Orochimaru was 39-40 and yet Orochimaru is higher. The most hyped prodigy is obviously Itachi. He's the only individual stated to not have to be taught at all, and the only individual to reach absurd levels of strength as a very young child. Everybody else's ranking is debatable, although the hype for Neji is particularly impressive, and Deidara & Sasori's power was quite notable as well at young ages.

What about konahamaru? he learned the rasengan at whatever young age he is and even used it against a Pain. i'd say that's impressive. naruto had to have been older when he learned it. so far i think we've only seen naruto, the 4th, jiriyai, and kakashi use it.

That (Bold) is impossible no matter who you are. That's like saying babies learn speech and grammar without being taught. Besides Nagato had the Rinnegan, so he basically mastered every jutsu before he even knew them.

And he wasn't the only prodigy to have reached absud levels of strength or status at a young age. Minato was anbu captain by 13/14 and kakashi was a jounin by 13, which most people never do.

It's easy to be considered a prodigy when you're relatively the last member of what was thought to be the strongest clan.

Besides Jiraiya said he was raised like a prodigy, not that he is one.

Manga never stated Minato was even in anbu..that's one..Itachi was the one who was the anbu captain at 13.. a feat even Kakashi recognizes

By feats:
1. Itachi Uchiha (check out his feats, before he left the village)
2. Minato Namikaze (once in an era prodigy)
3. Orochimaru (recognized as a prodigy by Hiruzen Sarutobi himself)
4. Hatake Kakashi (Even without being an Uchiha, he is still able to master the Sharingan pretty well)
5. Tsunade Senju (not due to her fighter skills, but her medical prowess, which no one else has)
6. Uchiha Sasuke (check out his lightning style attacks/variations/and the creation of kirin, which is natural force, not chakra.
7. Sasori (His Poison, creation of Human puppets)
8. Hiruzen Sarutobi (Mastered all non-KKG ninjutsus of Konoha "that's a great feat)
9. Tobirama Senju (Creation of Edo Tensei)
10. Kabuto Yakushi (Not due to his fighting skills or medical, but his skills as a spy)

some of this may not be in the correct place. But this 10 are definitely the top 10 prodigies in my opinion.

Not true. How did the first ninja discover those skills then?

Learning through observation or trial and error and learning by being taught are distinct.
