Top Selling Manga of 2012 - One Piece!

Just read an article on AnimeNewsNetwork that states that One Piece is the top selling manga of '12 with almost 23 mill copies sold.

Dayum! I love OP! I mean, I knew OP was doing good but this is just stunning.

Compare this to the 2nd place manga, Kuroko's Basketball (never heard of it....) which sold 8 mill and it's amazing the sheer dominance of OP in the market. Naruto is sadly at 3rd position with 6 mill and Bleach is way down at 12th with only 2 mill. Sad news for Bleach :c

I'm assuming this is just for Japan though and not global statistics.
Now, to check out this Kuroko's Basketball. Anyone else heard of it?

The only people who buy manga are pretty much Japanese people, and OP is more popular than Naruto in Japan.

Why?

Because Naruto focuses alot on Japanese culture and myths, which isn't as interesting in Japan as it is in the rest of the world.
