He lied about it but there is no other way for him to know exactly what cave kabuto was in

The whole sensing Kabuto thing, Itachi pointed out that he never said that HE was the one who sensed where Kabuto was. In that instance, Nagato was the sensor, he told Itachi where Kabuto was hiding out. I don't think Itachi is a sensory type, not like Karin or C, or Naruto in SM or KCM. But developing rudimentary sensory abilities, maybe.
