That said, City of New York doesn't use taxpayer money; it has its own separate campaign fundraising thing.

Oh I see, I misunderstood the system. I guess the logic is that since the system is based on individual, non corporate donors, the city is justified in giving the publicly allocated funds to help thecampaigners, because it's a technically democratic process. I don't know if I agree, but I see how it's legal. Whoever can get the most donations is the one who's be winning anyway. I guess most NYCers donate Democrat.

This is to amplify campaigns to keep voters informed, is the outward logic, I guess. Also, individual taxpayers whon ordinarily wouldn't be able to make much of a contribution and impact in the system in comparison to corporations and organizations have a vector to make greater contributions and have a greater impact in the race through the matching system.

The money would be better spent elsewhere, I agree. But I understand it's purpose. I'd have to look into how it was established.

Citizens United, in a courted won battle against the Federal Election Commission, allowed corporate and unions and other associations to give unlimited funds to campaigns.

It is sad to see Democrats taking in that much money from large corporations. Bernie is right, Democrats are brought.
