So this is the guy we trusted to unite the world through understanding? The dude has no impressive messiah-style achievements under his belt. Forgiving the guy who killed his parents, the man who killed his master, love interest, sensei and village and Sasuke, his ninja boyfriend who attempted to kill him multiple times.

Here's a bunch of people Naruto forgot to try understand, couldn't understand or just straight up didn't have the time or patience for.

Naruto loses it and has a tantrum when his sideb**ch from the Sand is taken from him. No time for peace Naruto, go and savagely murder that guy! Understandable but still bad. Deidara sadly never ends up meets Naruto again and instead picks a fight with Sasuke, who rightfully along with the audience. writes him off for a complete utter psychopath.

Naruto just interrupts completely uninvolved in the events taking place here and decides this random guy is gonna be the target for his new jutsu. Where does he come from? Where will he go? What is his name? Naruto motherf*cker Uzumaki doesn't really seem to care today.

Even for the blame he does have to take on himself, Boruto isn't a bad kid and Naruto has let people off from killing his parents, attacking world leaders & murdering his sensei. He's meant to be understanding and this is something that he himself has done many times before (Written Exam, Graduation Exam, Both Chunnin exam finals he's fought in- VS Konohamaru & VS Neji)

-Nobody scolded Naruto for his cheating and theft.
-Naruto shouldn't be so immediate & public with the punishment.
-It is hypocrisy and I don't think Boruto should've gotten off punishment-free but Naruto of all people should have some patience or empathy.
-Naruto has condoned far FAR worse
-It's too small a technical rule issue for this level of punishment
-It's 50% Naruto's fault he's there doing it in the first place.

And so there's my list. Even messiahs can have off days. Gandhi got lazy every now and then too. ​

Naruto is not a good father, that is the original premise and main obstacle of the film. The thing he cannot understand his son and is estranged from him (from the Birthday cake to the Headband) is interesting, dysfunctional, tragic but most of all imo- intentional.

Who said otherwise, though? The thing I'm pointing out is the understanding of that scene itself.

Everything else is clear cut that Naruto needed this development as a father who also ran the Village.

Comparing Naruto's childhood and Boruto's childhood.. is like Comparing Konohmaru and Naruto from part 1.

Similar to how Hiruzen wasn't a bad grandpa, Konohamaru just never understood his Grandfather's position. Naruto isn't a bad father, boruto the brat simply doesn't understand.


The Hokage should be a single man like Tobirama/Kakashi, its been repeatedly shown that the kids of the Hokage turn out to be brats until they are taught a hard lesson. Thats just side shit that they shouldn't be dealing with man. And then you have the whole thing about the entire village is Naruto's family and so on.


But then again some fans do tend to have the whole "The father is bad, because he can't play with the son 24/7". Just Dbz fans and Goku all over.

Naruto was constantly let off for all of his pranks, cheating the graduation exam/getting the kage bunshin through illegal means and for both times he cheated/using somebody elses' power in the chunnin exams.

No punishments. Lots of patience.

Of course Boruto was being bad. But the rest of the film clearly depicts him as a good kid with some daddy issues. The fact that Naruto had no patience or empathy at all is the reason it's an interesting turn in the film and for the character.

It's literally built into the themes and the narrative of the film for Naruto to be a bad father and putting Hokage roles ahead of not just family but his own core beliefs who made Naruto who Naruto was. I like Naruto but it's honestly interesting asf that his messiah unity ideology has gone stale.

Hence the passing of the torch.
