i forgot his name to but he is NOT useless hes kinda like tails from sonic fused with shikamaru. he makes most of the plans and stuff sure he almost got the mc killed in their first mission but you have to realize their first mission was a suicide mission the survival rate was practically zero and they all wouldve died no matter what if eren didnt transform.
