I don't really think that's why he went for b tbh. And I never said he could, I just thought it was odd you would assume he couldn't considering how the brief clash ended. Ay's plan was to guess where Minato popped up, but there was no guarantee that would work, let's be realistic, Minato had quite a few marks in the area what where the odds ay guessed right? And even then if he popped up and ay was coming at him he already proved he could ftg away from ay's fastest speed at the time so where's the guaranteed win for ay?

There isn't a win for Ay at all. Ay was on guard the moment he set out to use full speed, and on guard when he tried to predict where Minato would teleport... failed on both counts. When all is said and done, Ay's full speed not being quick enough is just a simple fact, and one that would prevent him from being able to even touch Minato.
