Yamato is not useless. He just made thousands of Zetsu's shit loads stronger. How is that useless?

Other than his contributions in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, Kiba has done nothing of note in the series when it comes to feats. Granted some of his fights have been in filler storylines, but he gets pounded in battle time and time again. Flash forward ten years and he'll be logging as many hours in a hospital bed as Kakashi.
