What do you consider to be your top 3 (or less) final fantasy games?

1) FF VI (Immense game with non-linear story)

2) FF X (Story gave me the feels & auron is a boss)

3) FF XII (Active time battle had returned and man was the gameplay as good as ever)

Final Fantasy 7 (Just so damn nostalgic.. And the best music.. And the OPTIONAL BOSSES!)

Final Fantasy 10... The Aeon, The Game Play, Auuron, Waka, The Battle Arena.. Just too much

Final Fantasy 12.... The Gameplay.. How you can pretty much be a lvl 20 in a lvl 40 place.. The weapons, Optional bosses. EPIC

I don't mean to influence opinion, but Final Fantasy VII took elements from 4 and 6 don't ya know... And the modern Final Fantasy games just...they just lost their touch. The developers are too afraid to shift back to how it used to be. They're being too progressive with their games and all for the wrong reasons.

Final Fantasy Dissidia.

Final Fantasy IX was my favorite
A blend of the old and new ones with my one of my favorite protagonist of all time
And who does't love ViVi ?

Final Fantasy VIII
And from what i seen so far Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Exactly, they're getting too experimental right now and have produced games that I have regret buying.

Same about ffx. Just don't play ffx-2, it left me scarred.

Ffx sphere grid was indeed a great form of customization, ffxii did feel complete and the judges were awesome, and you must play ff vi. That game feels more than complete, I was only halfway through the game when I thought the game was about to end.

1. FF IX. Simply the best. Better than all the rest. I mean this one is the most final fantasy amongst final fantasies.

2. FF VI. Just awesome. I love the characters.

3. FF VII. I think this one is really overrated but I like it anyways. I hate Aerith and I'm glad she died. No, just kidding!...... I hate her tough.

1) FF VI - I agree with OP: deep storyline, NON linear.
2) FF VII - Nice side quest ability. Great soundtrack.
3) FF XII - Loved the battle system.

If the makers could combine today's graphics/engine with the non-linear story style from VI they might make the best FF game ever. There has been some great characters, but never has there been a story structure as good as VI.

I'm in no position to criticize ffvii since I only played 5 min of it, but I do agree its a bit overrated as so much attention was put on it that they made side games, an anime, and a movie for it.
