Top 25 Manga Properties for First Half of 2011

The Japanese list posted some way earlier on was more interesting and enriching. It reflected better actual popularity and the manga trends going on. This one seems as if they asked from the guys in my school where they just swear on Bleach, Naruto, DBZ. U_U

In fact, I found this list a bit f**ked up. They just added the sales of 2011 to older sales of manga - making it an overall all-time list. Obviously, that's why Yu-Gi-Oh and DBZ are still on that list. It doesn't really reflect the real popularity and ratings right now. In fact, in 2009, I checked another list like this one for manga sales and guess what - The Top 5 was like that!

1 Naruto
2 Bleach
3 Vampire Knight
4 Black Butler
5 Death Note

The newer sales are too far away to make a big difference on the list, thus making it pretty unreliable unfortunately. The Japanese Sales list reflect the actual trend of what's going on and you pretty much see how much the plot change, the ending of some series or the arrival of new animes affected the manga sales. So yeah,

If you're looking for a manga with a perfect artstyle, One Piece aint gonna give it to you.

But if you want a manga/anime with a great storyline, and humor that is gonna have you laugh like you never laughed before. And every week when a new chapter comes out, you're gonna feel like that kid who got Nintendo 64 for christmas.

And I promise you, you'll forget/get used to the artstyle soon enough.



That is every One Piece fan every week when a new One Piece chapter comes out.

I can tell you one more thing; You're missing out dude..



One Piece will bring out the feelings in you like no manga/anime has before, excitement, sadness, happiness. You'll get the biggest laughs.

I'm just happy my favorite, Soul Eater, is there.


One Piece should be higher. I'm not a fan of it (Never seen an episode really, but I've seen videos and it just doesn't appeal to me. Nothing personally, but it's just not my type of anime), but I think it's popularity beats Naruto at times. It's one of the most popular animes/mangas ever.


One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto are the big three today.

However, I'm pulling for Soul Eater to capture the number one spot of awesomenes. It's unquie and different. I think it's the next Death Note. The same league in taste, and mind blowing amazing, but not a big competitor.....yet. It's still on-going and really getting awesome.

Compare the Discussion threads for Naruto chapters and One Piece chapters. All you see in One Piece chapter discussion is everyone arguing about how awesome the chapter was. Lot of joy and stuff. On the other hand, Naruto discussion, several pages of spam, arguing about one character or one technique. Shitloads of threads about who is stronger, which always end in a flame wars. Signs of immaturity everywhere.

I'm a Naruto fan but honestly you are right. Specially in versus threads.

sheesh, I understand people who is in favor with One piece or who's in favor with my first top anime list since the sales were mentioned there but honestly, this thread is the latest. I'll try to check again after a month^_^

Even if we include recent sales of Naruto, it's impossible that it closed that huge gap
