Le pleb I am not even American nor I live in NATO country. You are really delusional at this point, which you are accusing me of. I told you to use google but you did not. It seems you have not intention to check. We are talking about overseas bases not inside. Countless bases? Check out about base in Vietnam which was pulled out years back.
How? State some facts.
It is also a misconception that Russia has an edge in nuclear arsenal
. To give you an idea a single SSBN of US carries 24 ICBMs each with upto 12 warheads each around 100-400kt. That is roughly around 200 warheads in a sub. 18 of these SSBNs are active. Russia is still struggling to build up capacity with new borie class subs. Furthermore France and UK also keep subs with similar capacity deployed. That is not even adding silo based nukes.

Nope, I can assure you it has. The most potent bomb in the world belongs to Russia, as well as the most potent vacuum bomb, that is comparable to a normal atomic bomb.. Russia is also doing massive nuclear experiments, thing that US is not doing at all, at least on that scale.
I would like you to Google translate this:

Like what?

Powerful bombs don't make much difference especially when a country does not have great strike capability. It is nuclear, mutual assured destruction in case of US and Russia. US does not keep reminding the world that they have the capability with propaganda and such not as much as Russia at least.

One year ago, for example, they tried a new launch that crossed the whole Russia from Karelija to Kamchatka. Operation succeeded.
Also, Russia is not exactly the kind of country that lacks strike capability ;) Anyway I agree

Yeah I did xd anyway I don't know how much we can trust something from Washington Post when speaking about Russia

Indeed Russia isn't the maggot-minded drones that are most western political analysts, it knows very well what it is doing - the Neocon fifth column a la Nuland also knows what it's doing probably, I think the only stupid people in all of this are those who believe their garbage.

Anatoly Karlin, a highly intelligent Eastern European blogger at the Unz review who I would recommend as an excellent source on Russian affairs, has written a very discerning and insightful analysis of the Russian intervention in Syria (though I personally dislike any form of intervention in that crap-hole, I can't say it isn't well thought out):

It was Putin's own announcement...the WP just reported it...reading comprehension fail 2.0

Seriously, has functional illietracy become a disease among Western teenagers?

Talking to me? Funny how you accuse me of comprehension troubles when the analysis I linked to begins with mention of Putin's announcement.

Did you take a law-school aptitude test, Kobak? The ones we have in the west - one of the few good things about our education system - all have a reading comprehension section and the questions are always non-trivial in that they ask you to derive some implication, follow a line of thought or construe some interpretation.

I know that medical schools in Eastern Europe are third-rate compared to ours (they have laughable admissions standards), are the law schools similar? You should try the LSAT sometime, I used its practice papers to help me prepare for the reading comprehension related section of the GAMSAT medical school admissions test I am currently preparing for, as the LSAT reading comprehension is similar but somewhat harder.

And trust me, I habitually do well on cognitive ability tests - I scored in the top 10% of the verbal reasoning section of the UKCAT despite not preparing for it as much as I should have, and verbal reasoning has always been my weakest point.

I did read the article but unlike you I interpreted it too - an essential skill for LSAT like reading comprehension tests - and deduced from the tone that the author has Neocon or leftist interventionist tendencies (e.g. consider his comments on Islamists supposedly 'hijacking' a revolt - for liberal democracy no doubt, that is the Neocon and leftist interventionist narrative).

And why are you getting worked up over that comment, the swipe wasn't directed at you nor even explicitly at the authors of that article though I have definitely seen articles written by people who I genuinely would ascribe the epithet used to on the WP.

Still thinking so highly of yourself, I see. I guess I touched a nerve :lol

And no, I don't wish to communicate with you, so leave me alone. But btw, your post still has not much to do with what I said. I posted a link from WP reporting on Putin's announcement, to which deadlift expressed doubts if we can trust what WP says on Russia. But it has not much to do with analyses. Just an announcement. I didn't add any evaluation, and I could have linked any other newssite reporting it. Therefore your interpretation on my post was a failure once again, which makes it at least the third time. But keep bragging about your education.

I get that Putin made that announcement, I'm not sure how much did Washington Post speculate about it.
And about illiteracy.. well I have to confirm the stereotypes about Italians xd

Come on man, as much as I dislike your ideological bent I consider you among the more intelligent people on here, you know that journalism in the abstract doesn't exist. That's why deadlift questioned the source in the first place, he understand that well.

And it's not that I think highly of myself - most of the people close to me are more accomplished than I - it's that I don't think much of humanity in general but I'm starting to ramble again so I'll stop there and will respect your wish to not interact with me.

And that's the genetic fallacy.

Uff you're so unkind

You liked me, though when I agreed with you and gave you rep :lol

Anyway, forget it. I deleted my rude comment. As I said, I was in a bad mood. Happens to me u.u I'm not to be taken seriously, or to start a debate with, in those moments. Anyway, I'm not here to be liked or to be kind. Sorry if I offended you tho, I just don't see why would you question if Putin really made such an announcement. It's very easy to check, several newssites have reported it. Whether he was lying, or whatever the implications/consequences may be, or whatever analysis the Washington Post added: was irrelevant from the aspect of my post, as I just reported a simple fact: Putin announced something. I backed it up with a link I could find, to make it easier for you and others to trace it back. Would you have preferred a Russian site? I speak Russian, so just ask for it, then...I'm not really into global politics, though, I just thought it's interesting: I actually stumbled upon it on a newssite from my country. But several English sites have reported it as well. Whether you trust these or not, is not my problem, how should I know which ones do you accept as legit? For all I know, the WP is an okay medium. But again, the point was not the evaluation of a certain newssite, on the announcement, but the fact that there was such an announcement. When there is a video of Putin saying this: there is no question that he indeed made such a statement, unless you believe that Western newssites are now forging videos- which might be the case, who knows, some people say that ISIS videos executing the journalists, were fake. But I digress. The point is, please make a list of which sites can I use to link news to you in your threads, next time...I'm not following any agenda here, there is no specific reason behind my choice of newssource.

I said you were unkind, not that I didn't like you XD

Anyway don't worry, it happens to everyone.
The fact is that I've seen that other medias announced that Putin's decision, but only Washington Post, aka the site you linked here, speculated that much about the reasons of that act. Nothing else

It's mostly quantity, giving little to no attention to quality.

Proof? It put Russia as second because of sheer numbers (i.e. conscriptable population etc)... despite their military technology being decades out of date.

Not really. They have a lot of really good equipment.

Correct, they were outdated during Chechnya and Georgia war. Now they're arguably the best in both land and air systems
