You high or somethin ?

Nope, not enough of an impact if you look at video games as a whole not just the last few years. I don't know a thing about Battlefield.

Neither should DoTa.

So what are the game franchises you think are the most popular of all time?
Here's my list, in no particular order:

1. Pokemon
2. Grand Theft Auto
3. Call of Duty
4. Battlefield
5. Defense of the Ancients (DotA)
6. Mario (anything that has to do with it)
7. Minecraft
8. The Sims
9. World of Warcraft
10. Wii Sports
11. Tetris
12. Halo
13. Final Fantasy
14. Tekken
15. Assassins Creed

Now, I'm not much of a gamer and a researcher (so don't kill me if I make a mistake), but here's my list.
Now list yours.
Funny that you don't have League of Legends on there. The player base is ridiculous and it's so huge now the government allows visas for people from other countries coming over to play the game.

Pokemon, I agree with. Grand Theft Auto (I might as well add Saints Row here).
Call of Duty, definitely.
Battlefield, not as much. EA has not been very popular lately. Sims including.
DoTA 2 has a big playerbase, but to be honest, it is only for the people who like the MOBA genre and it's not as big as most people would think. Yes, most people know of it, but don't really play it.
Minecraft, Terraria, and Starbound have an unique genre a lot of people like, so I agree with that.
Wii Sports...eh...can't say I agree with that. The Wii system has not been selling so well and until perhaps the new Super Smash Bros comes out.
Tetris still popular, props to you for stating that one.
Halo hasn't come out with a game for some time, but I suppose you can put that there. Bioshock and Fallout in minor categories.
Tekken, Street Fighter, Injustice...a whole other genre.
Assassin's Creed, definitely.
Mario and Final Fantasy are classics.

As someone mentioned, The Elder Scrolls is pretty big.

Other games on the side to be mentioned could be Portal, Donkey Kong, Borderlands, Torchlight, Left 4 Dead, XCom...yeah. There's a lot.

Agreed about LoL, there must be around 35-40 million registered users worldwide now and if the title of "Most played game in North America and Europe" doesn't convince you, I don't know what will.

If I were to guess I'd say.

1. Super Mario
2. Grand Theft Auto
3. Pokemon
4. The Legend of Zelda
5.Halo
6.Elder Scrolls
7. Final Fantasy
8.Call of Duty
9. Madden
10. Street Fighter
11. Metal Gear Solid
12. Tekken
13. Pac-Man
14. Castlevania
15. World of Warcraft

That list isn't in any specific order but I've been gaming the majority of my life and those series have always been anticipated and have huge fanbases. They are also known by all gamers and even people who aren't into video games have heard of them.

Quake, definitely, but might you consider Counterstrike as well? Super Smash Bros and Sonic too?

FIFA seems more American rather than universal.

Counterstrike is definitely more popular then ac or battlefield , the game is 15 year old , it's not only known by this generation of gamers but by the previous also, assasins creed is what a game of 7 years old, it can't hold a candle against it, fifa is one of those 10 games that sold over 100 million copies , I think that says enough

sonic and super smash bros are your words
