I know it is your opinion but I am going to debate with you about your list. I don't like it at all.
Edo Madara. He is not technically a real person. You can say rinnegan Madara but Edo Madara is someone who was dead and then got extra powers through Kabuto. That is not his own power.
Secondly you put Itachi below Jiraiya, and far below Nagato and Hashirama. I think that is pretty ridiculous. Nagato and Itachi are about equals, and we have not even seen Hashirama's abilities other than a weak fight against an even weaker Hiruzen.
Hashirama beat EMS Madara, who was basically beaten by Gaara and Onoki. (He had to pull out the rinnegan to save himself, something he didn't have when he fought Hashirama)
And then Hashirama got control of the 9-tails. So it wasn't Madara and the 9-tails vs. Hashirama, it was Hashirama and the 9-tails vs. Madara. And somehow Mito got in there and became a jinchurikki. So either way Madara was outnumbered and still managed to get away alive and get the rinnegan afterwards.
Hashirama even by hype should not be top 5.
my list is based on overall power, so some characters may be able to beat higher numbers via specific weaknesses. Until I see the fight with Hashirama and Madara I think he still had to fight both. I don't remember it being being said Wood style takes control of the kyubi, just subdues it, I could be wrong though. As for the number difference between Nagato and Itachi, I come from the camp that says it took Naruto,B,Itachi to take him down, but lets please not get into that...I don't want to go into that again.:| Besides 9-5 are all very close to me.

No I don't believe that wood release can control tailed beasts, the manga says that the 9-tails was sealed into Mito Uzumaki to better aid Hashirama.
I meant it was a jinchurikki and hashirama against Madara.
Either way the 9-tails was taken out of the fight and then Madara was outnumbered then he managed to stay alive with just the EMS. Afterwards he got the rinnegan.
I honestly don't think Hashirama and EMS Madara were all that strong though. Probably upper kage level definitely but not the supper haxxed people everybody believed. Like if Madara hadn't had the rinnegan he would have lost against just Gaara pulling him out of Susanoo and Naruto's rasenshuriken.

first i think no one can really control the 9 tails unless they are the perfect hosts.
also hashirama or madara could have enough chakra / skills to summon the 9 tails but controlling it is entirely a different thing.(like when naruto summoned boss toad)
madara has sharingan to control 9 tails for some time till his genjutsu wears off. hashirama on the other hand couldnt possibly control 9 tails but could surely suppress its rampage using the wood style.
so the 9 tails could go against either way but the possibilty of manifesting its chakra for destruction in a battle is possible only for the EMS madara.
