Too Late to Turn Back​

​

Years ago, when for the first time we met,
It started as something simple, no more than friends,
I told myself the pain was temporary when you left,
But I learnt that my delusions were no means to an end.

The days went on, time passed,
We grew further apart,
I continued to don the liar's mask,
And refuse to believe that love was what caused my aching heart.

When I tried to forget you, I just kept on remembering,
Why did I left myself succumb to these feelings,
if it meant losing you, who were my everything,
Caused me such pain, with no signs of healing?

The more I remembered, the more I hurt,
The thought that you'd be with some other man,
I just feel like I'm gonna fall apart,
With regret that I didn't try and give you all that I can.​
