I have not seen it either but I saw that clip Naruto did help...what makes it significant is that it was designed to hold the power of all the byakugun and it is referred to as the real Tenseigan...also the core is what they destroyed which is usually stronger just look at chibaku tensei as a reference the core is the source and as a side effect it created the moon.
