So right now there are two theories, the one that gets more acceptance is that Hide sent Haise this book since it's the exact same Hide asked Eto to sign back at the chapter 109 of TG. The other theory, the more twisted is that Eto, knowing full well because of that event, which book Hide was planning to give as a gift to Kaneki, she signed one of her other books and sent it to him As Hide's present while she was the one to do it to make him search for his past.

Hehehe, dont get me wrong I love Hide buy I think it would be better for Kaneki to remember he ate him and knowing Eto, I could totally see her doing that.

But you know, I'm starting to think Eto and the doctor from Aogori have Hide stored somewhere to mess with Kaneki

I think I like the latter more too. One way or another, I doubt Kaneki is remembering anything through subtle hints like these gifts.

As for Uta and the :Re company and the clowns...I really don't know. Uta could be lying about everything so we just wait and see I guess.

"Subtle hints"? He even replied to Nishiki by calling his name only by hearing his own former name and besides, the book gave him hints about which was his exact name as well as how it's written making it easier for him to search.

True I know that but my point is that even that can be called a reaction to subte hints because just hearing his real name made Kaneki take control momentarilly so saying that that subtle hints won't work is false.

Kaneki took control before Nishiki called him by his name (see the first scan I posted, that's when Kaneki took over, hence the change of demeanor).

The only reason he reacted that way to Nishiki was because he didn't know who was fighting with until his mask fell off, that's why he was so surprised, he didn't expect to be him.

But even before the fight began, he was able to identify Tooru whereas when he calls Nishiki's name, Shirazu comments on his voice at that exact moment like it changed, let alone the fact that moment that he saw him, there was a strange reaction in his eyes.
