Kaneki: “At this rate, your subordinates are going to die, and there’s nothing you’ll be able to do about it. Look at me. …Why so cold? You know that you need me. Hey… You want this, don’t you? Let me in.”
Haise: “…Shut up…” (thinking: ) I won’t let you consume me. “Mutsuki, I need you to contact Akira.”

So Haise is Kaneki, but he's shut away the personality of kaneki?
It can't be like the Kaneki/Ryze relationship, pretty sure that Ryze was just a figment of his imagination, an identified personality made to represent his inner ghoul - not actually Ryze's consciousness existing within Kaneki.

Small thoery:

Haise is kenaki but not him at the some time. Haise is probably the new consciousness of ken but believe he is someone else and this tragedy is a continuation of the self conflict theme in part 1, haise being an evolution of ken.

Personal if we get a sub consciousness of black hair kaneki at some point in this sequel like when touka hits the scene, I will extend this thoery of his consciousness but Im too lazy atm and I'm pretty sure everything understands who haise is.

 

[Frankenstein]

Haise says "I won't let you consume me" (then goes batshit crazy tho) so I think he has at least part of Kaneki inside him (if you 'd pardon the pun). Meaning, either Kaneki is still alive in Rize/Arata mode or he will eventually take over Haise.

I don't know if I prefer Haise to just be Kaneki with memory loss or Kaneki being implanted in Haise and them being like 2 souls/personalities in one body. The latter reminds me of Samurai Deeper Kyo, where the protagonist is basically the "good" guy and inside him he has the spirit/soul of the "bad" guy and sometimes the one takes over, sometimes the other. I wouldn't mind that at all since this way we do get Kaneki "full" and we also keep Haise, who is a likeable character, certainly more likeable than black-haired Kaneki.
