Apparently, they're gonna do a live action film about Tokyo Ghoul.

The wraparound jacket on the seventh volume of the Tokyo Ghoul:re manga, which will go on sale on June 17, has announced a live-action film adaptation of the horror action franchise. Further information will be announced in future issues of Young Jump magazine.

The Tokyo Ghoul series is created by Sui Ishida and began serialization in Young Jump in 2011. The original series ended in 2014, and it was continued as Tokyo Ghoul:re later that year. It has also spun off a number of side stories published as light novels and other manga series. The announcement also revealed that the series has collectively sold 18 million compiled volumes.

Tokyo Ghoul was also adapted into two television anime series in 2014 and 2015. Side story OVA episodes were also released in September and December 2015.

Never seen the anime or read the manga. Been interested in it, but haven't gotten a chance yet.

Maybe I'll just wait for the live-action film to introduce me to the franchise :sdo:

Live action versions of anime are just too cringy. Anime is just too far from reality in every way, even in slice of life anime.
na. pacific rim was dope, I know it wasn't based on anime, but if that movie worked..why couldnt Gundam? Attack on titan would work also, they just need a big studio budget like the comics get (marvel, Dc)

No, Attack on Titan would never work if the adaptation was true. Anime characters are written way too differently than real life characters. It would just be awkward. Unless they decided to make it less like the source material.

I think you're right about Gundam though. The only proper Hollywood live action adaptation of anime (manga but same thing) was Edge Of Tomorrow. I think they're making a sequel, too.

wait edge of tomorrow was a anime or manga? that had to annoying as hell to read lol (live die repeat). Didnt really think about the characters when I suggested that AOT would be a awesome Movie adaptation(just the titans, the machines, and the environment). But aside from how they adapt the characters, I think the rest would be doable.
