I don't want to offend but you seem a little like a sociopath. Your fave is Kabuto and judging by this thread you see things more objectively and the fact that they look and feel just like humans isn't enough for you to cheer them on.

They're just on the top of the food chain is all. You make it seem like intelligence matters in nature when it doesn't. It doesn't give you some high ranking or anything. It's a part of nature for the ghouls to eat humans just like it is for us to eat animals. I guess even though what they do is gross in our eyes, it's justifiable to most of the fans. Clearly you have a harder time relating. Of course if they were real I would agree though but I would still have empathy towards them.

It's more of the opposite. I'm disturbed by the fact that these monsters are supposed to be rooted for when they kill and eat regular people. I care about the humans who die for pretty much no reason. And them looking like humans doesn't matter. See vampires.
My actual favorite though, is Orochimaru. And, to my knowledge, I'm not an immortality obsessed kidnapper. Point being just because I like a character does NOT mean I see myself in them.
And if it is just nature, then i should be okay with it? If I'm eaten or my friends and loved ones get eaten I should just say "not that guy's fault he's just hungry"? And I'm the sociopath.

What makes eating people any less wrong then killing those who eat people?

Kinda like a shitty version of shiki Lol

This looks like a skype post I just saw

Because the people getting eaten are us. If it is "just survival" then it'd be excusable for us to kill them too.

Yeah, figured I'd get more responses here.

Edit: alrighty, it's 1:36 am and I have class in a few hours. It was fun to actually voice my opinion on this and see what others had to say on the matter

No, you're a sociopath because you have a harder time relating on a personal level. Your thought process is I don't care if that little girl just witnessed her mom beheaded, she eats dead people, she's a monster, lol. The author tries to put us in their shoes but you find it difficult. You see their actions, and that's all. Which is a good quality of a sociopath. You're more objective. Actually, no. You're just too fixated on the monster thing, you're right I don't think sociopath is a good word but something's wrong with ya, jk.

I wasn't trying to say you should be okay with them eating your loved ones. My point is they're not monsters, they're a part of nature.

You can fill your hunger with food other than humans soooo...

A ghoul can be wrong in only one case .. If he is eating fellow ghouls
Stop thinking about them as animals with superpowers ? They are humans who developed in a way that they can only eat something how .. Its natual for anyone to want to live on and survive .. They eat humans in order to survive !

Seriously your logic is so flawed

I think the mood is good for setting up a sort of moral dilemma for the reader to go through. It's not a typical black and white story.

So humans prey on animals to eat so that they can live but another species can't prey on humans to satisfy their hunger? That doesn't sound fair does it?

Plus the ghouls of Anteiku don't even go hunting humans, they prefer eating the dead, victims of accidents and so on.

I should be okay with Ghouls devouring up human lives because it's just nature?
That's not retarded to you?

Well the main subject is to compare ghouls to every other animal. Humans tend to demonize everything that is a threat to us. For instance every animal that is dangerous should be controlled or killed. The thing is however that for animals, it's easy to think like that because they can't think like us, in such a complex way, they act based on their primal instincts. Here however we see that these "evil" hunters are like an evolved form of animals, they too act out of necessity however being intellectual beings, they can actually stand for themselves. I would say that it's more like a philosophical question of whether or not we should eliminate what thtreatens us or try some kind of a middle line.

The people are technically the 'good side' and ghouls the 'bad side'. There is no line between good or wrong, it's up to you to deceide. Even inbetween the Ghouls there are sides as you may have read.
